It's Time for Your Authentic Leadership
Authentic leadership has become a bit of buzz word lately. But why should you care about it, particularly if you don't currently find yourself in a position of power?
Well, before the hype about this relatively new leadership theory, there was the simple truth.
And the simple truth is this:
"There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it."
The legendary choreographer Martha Graham directed these words to Agnes de Mille...but they also hold true for you!
The truth is that there is something unique about you, something that only you can bring to the world.
You don't need to be in a formal position of leadership to give your gifts. People from all walks of life make a huge difference in the world and meaningfully impact other people.
You do, however, need to be in your own power and authentic leadership.
If you hide or choose to blindly follow the suggestions of people in positions of leadership (despite knowing that they are less competent or less caring than you are), you deprive the world of the treasures hidden within you.
Yes, there are many potential definitions of authentic leadership.
At the end of the day, though, I believe it all comes down to unlocking your full potential. To living your passion and purpose, as well as give the gifts you have within you.
But how exactly do you do that?
You have to remove the blocks that keep you from being in your authentic power and leadership.
This matters because once you feel more comfortable in taking up space and expressing yourself, it becomes a lot easier to share your gifts with the world.
Can you imagine how wonderful that would feel? How rewarding it would be to have people thank you for what you're doing?
This is possible for you. You just need to remove the blocks that are stopping you. For many people, that has to do with a fear of power.
As Marianne Williamson so succinctly put it:
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness
That most frightens us."
Without addressing that fear, it's hard for you to create the life you most want where you live your passion and purpose and impact people in deeply meaningful ways.
Makes sense, right?
